What is Cloud Virtual Private Server?
Virtual Private Server (VPS) is a service which provides virtual machines for academic and research institutions. It allows users permanent full access and independent control over their assigned virtual infrastructure, delivers a range of advanced virtual datacenter features, and eliminates the need for physical hardware ownership and maintenance.
Who can use this service?
The service is available to public universities and other academic institutions, as well as public research institutes.
What are the benefits of using a VPS virtual machine?
The VPS service ensures significant savings when compared to the cost of physical infrastructure procurement and maintenance for both the user institution as well as the entire science and higher learning community.
How can I request a virtual machine on behalf of my institution?
A designated contact individual for your institution can submit a request for a virtual machine by using their AAI@EduHR identity via web form available here. The web form is accessible only by employees from within the academic and research community (or those appropriately designated within their AAI@EduHR system).
What is the configuration of a standard virtual machine as offered by this service?
- 2 processor (vCPU) [Intel Xeon E7-4830 ~2 GHz]
- 8 GB operating memory (vRAM)
- 100 GB storage space
- a single IPv4 address within the public address space reserved for VPS service

An institution can request multiple virtual machines for their purposes.
How are the virtual machines accessed?
The control web interface is available at http://vps.srce.hr.
It allows for:
- operating the virtual machine (power on, power off, reset)
- access the virtual machine console in the same manner a physical machine would be accessed
- password change
