New cloud based services

16. 4. 2012.

University Computing Centre (Srce) supported by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports has established two new services using the paradigms of cloud computing.

These services enable creating and using virtual servers for the permanent needs of academic institutions, as well as the virtual servers for the dynamic needs of educators and researchers in science and education. Services are available free of charge, thus enabling significant savings for the institutions, but also enabling overall savings at the system level in relation to the procurement and maintenance of physical servers.

Service named Virtual Private Server (VPS) is a service of Srce intended for the public universities and public research institutes that enables the using of virtual servers to meet their permanent (long term) need for server capacity and with the level of support standard for modern data center. More information about the service is available at http://www.srce.hr/vps/(CRO).

Service named Virtual Computing Lab (VCL) is a service of Srce intended for the employees of institutions of science and higher education that enables the using sets of virtual servers to flexibly meet their dynamic needs such as virtual classrooms for teaching purposes or virtual laboratories in education or research. More information about the service is available at http://www.srce.hr/vcl/(CRO).
