In the last week, the first week of online education for Croatia as a whole due to the crisis caused by the emergence of the corona virus and the COVID-19 disease, as well as a week in which many public and state authorities and economies intensively began to move to work in an online environment , as expected, there was a 15 percent increase in CIX traffic, which is a significant jump over the usual upward trend in traffic through CIX.
This jump is primarily due to the emphasis on online education. Students and professors, pupils and teachers access from their homes, through their Internet service providers, digital services and content hosted on the online resources of Srce, CARNET, their faculty, or public Microsoft (cloud) networks. Exchange of Internet traffic is safer and more efficient if Internet packages go the shortest way from one point to another, from source to destination. In Croatia, this place, the intersection of Internet routes, is located in Srce and is called CIX.
CIX is a national center for the exchange of Internet space hosted in Srce, and an indispensable element of the architecture of the Croatian and global Internet. CIX is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
