The Executive Committee of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) has published its second version of the Work Plan. The plan is a coordination document that describes the key activities in this critical final phase of implementation before the “minimal viable EOSC” is presented at the end of 2020.
The document provides information on the core of EOSC (EOSC-Core) and two cases of initial use that show how EOSC enables interdisciplinary research. The document also contains an up-to-date overview of the activities of the Executive Board and its 6 working groups, including the following results:
- Strawman and Tinman documents on EOSC sustainability (Sustainability WG)
- Report on the landscape of national infrastructures, funding models, strategies and policies (Landscape WG)
- Draft of persistent identifier rules (PID) (FAIR WG)
- Initial Rules of Participation (RoP WG)
- Initial documents on FAIR metrics and service certification (FAIR WG)
- Partnership proposal to continue EOSC as a co-programmed partnership of Horizon Europe (Executive Board)
In the next six months, the Executive Board will make drafts and final recommendations for the mentioned topics, as well as define the following:
- Legal entity and management structure after 2020 (Landscape & Sustainability WG)
- Strategic Research and Innovation Program (SRIA) (Executive Board)
- Multi-annual guidelines (Executive Board)
- AAI principles and architecture document (Architecture WG)
- PID technical architecture document (Architecture WG)
- EOSC interoperability framework (FAIR, Architecture and RoP WGs)
- Training catalog specifications, minimum skill set for EOSC and organizational models for competence centers (WG Skills and Training WG)
The work plan is the result of cooperation between the Executive and Steering Committees and a large community of stakeholders and EOSC projects.
