This year's Conference SRCE DEI 2019 took place in Zagreb on 1 and 2 April 2019, as part of the national strategic project Croatian Science and Education Cloud (HR-ZOO) co-financed by the European Union funds from the European Regional Development Fund.
University Computing Centre SRCE has a long tradition in the area of information and communication technologies. It was founded in 1971 within the University of Zagreb with the purpose of enhancing the implementation of ICT in the academic and research community.
Today, SRCE is the main computing centre and the architect of e-infrastructure in Croatian higher education system.
The themes of the conference covered following topics:
- science and technologies
- information systems
- digital repositories and communication in science
- tools and technologies in education.
|Vibor Jelić. PhD|
The conference program focused on presenting existing and planned initiatives in the science and higher education system in which e-infrastructure plays a significant role.
The modern science and education system relies on technology and services based on it, and also on people who improve it. Inspired by this idea and the need for dialogue between all stakeholders in the science and higher education system, the main topic of the conference was to summarize the three concepts: connectivity, communication and cooperation.
On the first day Croatian Science and Education Cloud (HR-ZOO) preconference was held with invited lectures from assistant professor Rosa Karlić, PhD, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, associate professor, Jan Šnajder, PhD from Faculty of electrical ingeneering and Vibor Jelić, PhD, Ruđer Bošković Institute.
On the second conference day Hannah Short from the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, CERN held a lecture on the importance of electronic identity systems.
