Exactly 33 years ago, a group of visionaries, including Ivan Marić, today Director of SRCE, achieved a historic milestone – Croatia became part of the Internet.
On that day in 1992, the first Internet connection was established between SRCE and the University of Vienna, marking Croatia’s entry into the digital age. It was a moment defined by vision, courage and innovation, laying one of the foundations of today’s digital society.
Thirty-three years later, SRCE remains a central hub connecting people, ideas and technologies – a place where the digital future of science and higher education in Croatia is being built.
Today at SRCE, a new generation of experts is shaping the future of the Internet – one in which openness, decentralisation, transparency, security and neutrality come first.
