This year’s SRCE DEI 2026 Conference has concluded successfully. During the two-day conference, held on 28 and 29 April 2026, more than 500 participants from the fields of science and higher education, public administration, industry, and international institutions took part in the programme. The conference featured more than forty presentations across eight thematic sessions, 13 workshops, 11 poster presentations, and two keynote lectures.
The first keynote lecture was delivered by Iva Tolić from the Ruđer Bošković Institute, who presented the path from fundamental biological processes within cells to modern research infrastructures that enable their understanding and application in medicine.
The first conference day was marked by the thematic sessions “News in the Information Landscape of Science and Higher Education,” “Advanced Computing and Artificial Intelligence in Service of Science,” and “Agile Governance of Higher Education Institutions in Digital Transformation.”
The second conference day opened with the keynote lecture “The Business of Educational and Research Technology: Who Owns It and Why It Matters,” delivered by Janja Komljenovič from the University of Edinburgh. She discussed the impact of technology and AI companies, as well as publishers, entering higher education and research, and their efforts to monetize the vast amounts of data generated by the academic and research community.
The morning programme of the second day included the thematic sessions “Disruptive Technologies in Education: Supporting Student Creativity,” “ISeVO – Higher Education Registers,” and “European Digital Identity Wallet and Verifiable Credentials – A Revolution in User-Controlled Digital Identity.”
The afternoon programme featured the sessions “Digital Mosaic – Selected Topics” and “ISPiK – Reaccreditation and Monitoring of Programme Agreements in Science and Higher Education,” which continued the discussions initiated in the “ISeVO – Higher Education Registers” thematic block.
