A delegation of teachers and representatives of higher education institutions and government bodies from Georgia visited the University Computing Centre SRCE on 29 May 2026 as part of a study visit to the Republic of Croatia organised through the project PROmoting High-quality DIgital education in GEorgia (PRODIGE).
The aim of the study visit was to provide representatives of Georgian government and higher education institutions with an insight into European practices in the development of higher education, with a particular focus on understanding the role of national bodies in creating a supportive and sustainable framework for the development of higher education and supporting its digital transformation.
At the beginning of the visit, the guests were welcomed by SRCE Director Ivan Marić, who briefly presented SRCE’s activities and role within the Croatian system of science and higher education. This was followed by a presentation by Vlatko Grabovica, who provided an overview of SRCE’s development, activities and key responsibilities, as well as its role in the digital transformation of higher education and science in the Republic of Croatia.
SRCE’s activities in the field of education were presented by Assistant Director Sandra Kučina Softić, Ph.D. Particular emphasis was placed on the development of e-learning, support for teachers in the use of digital technologies, and educational activities through which SRCE contributes to improving the quality of teaching and the development of digital competencies.
The national digital services developed and maintained by SRCE were presented by Deputy Director Ognjen Orel, Ph.D. On this occasion, he highlighted the importance of national systems and infrastructures that support the scientific and academic community, including the CroRIS, ISeVO and Vidra systems, as well as other digital services intended for researchers, teachers and institutions within the science and higher education system.
The visit provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and examples of good practice in the digitalisation of higher education, as well as to present the Croatian model for the development of national digital services and infrastructures that support education, research and open science. More than 30 officials from the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement of Georgia, and representatives of the ten largest universities in Georgia took part in the visit.
