9. 7. 2025.

Experts from SRCE – University of Zagreb University Computing Centre participated in EDEN Digital Learning Europe 2025, the largest European conference dedicated to digital education, held from 15 to 17 June 2025 in Bologna, Italy.

The theme of this year’s conference was “Shaping the Future of Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence – Empowering Inclusivity, Innovation, and Ethical Growth”. Participants explored a wide range of topics, including personalized learning, global learning networks, democratizing access to knowledge, promoting equity and inclusion, bridging educational gaps, enhancing ethical awareness, combating bias and misinformation, and fostering global citizenship and sustainable development.

The conference, held at the University of Bologna, Europe’s oldest university, gathered over 300 participants from 42 countries, with 189 papers presented. A particular focus was also placed on the Bologna Process and its role in shaping AI-driven digital and educational policies across Europe.

SRCE presented a paper on the use of plagiarism detection software and its application at public higher education institutions in Croatia. As a national reference centre for these tools, SRCE has extensive experience in both technical implementation and user support. The presentation generated significant interest among attendees, who raised questions about detecting AI-generated content and about approaches to preventing plagiarism and fostering academic integrity.

SRCE also contributed to the conference with a second paper focused on how higher education institutions can embrace agility in the era of artificial intelligence, delivered in the form of a transformation action lab. The session was led by Prof. Nina Begičević Ređep, Ph.D. (Faculty of Organization and Informatics, University of Zagreb), Sandra Kučina Softić, Ph.D. (SRCE), and Prof. Albert Sangrà Morer, Ph.D. (Open University of Catalonia, Spain).

The strong interest in this topic and the engaging discussion that followed confirmed its relevance, highlighting SRCE’s proactive role in the European higher education space and its position as a reliable partner in digital transformation and innovation.
