SRCE Presents OpenStack Integration at EGI 2025 Conference

12. 6. 2025.

The presentation, delivered on Thursday, 5 June, demonstrated how authentication and resource usage monitoring were integrated within the newly upgraded OpenStack Antelope deployment at SRCE's cloud site, replacing the earlier OpenStack Stein and Ceph setup.

SRCE has been an active member of the EGI FedCloud for many years. As part of a recent hardware reorganization, a major upgrade of the cloud infrastructure was performed, requiring adjustments to several components in order to maintain compatibility and interoperability with the EGI Federated Cloud environment.

During the presentation, SRCE experts shared insights into overcoming challenges posed by significant changes in the OpenStack architecture and the successful adaptation of authentication and accounting services, ensuring continued compliance with EGI integration requirements.

In addition to their contribution to the conference program, SRCE representatives also participated in dedicated project meetings for EOSC Beyond and EOSC Data Commons, two initiatives that SRCE is actively involved in.

  • EOSC Beyond aims to enhance the core services of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) that facilitate the discovery, access, and reuse of resources by European research communities, institutions, and countries.
  • EOSC Data Commons focuses on establishing a shared and trusted ecosystem for research data and services. It seeks to enable seamless access to high-quality research outputs by linking institutional, national, and thematic repositories across scientific disciplines, while also delivering new tools and services across all stages of the research data lifecycle.

The EGI 2025 Conference brings together members of international research communities, service and infrastructure providers, EU-funded project representatives, security professionals, and policymakers in the field of large-scale distributed e-infrastructures.
