SRCE once again joined the celebration of Open Education Week by organizing several events aimed at the academic community.
On Monday, 9 March 2026, the webinar “Libraries in the Digital Transformation of Education – Role and Examples of Practice” was held. The event was dedicated to the role of libraries in the digital transformation of higher education and their support for modern teaching and learning models.
During the webinar, the cloud-based library services platform Alma was presented. It enables easier access to digital resources and more efficient integration of library services into the teaching process. Two examples of collaboration between librarians and teachers in class preparation were also showcased – from selecting relevant digital sources to developing students’ digital competencies and supporting independent and collaborative learning.
The webinar featured the following speakers:
- Dr. sc. Dijana Machala, Assistant to the Director General for Central Library Activities, National and University Library in Zagreb
- Prof. dr. sc. Snježana Kužir, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb
- Jovana Ivanić, prof., mag. bibl., Head of the Library, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb
- Assoc. Prof. dr. sc. Sonja Novak, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, J. J. Strossmayer University of Osijek
- Kristina Kiš, Senior Librarian and Head of the Library, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, J. J. Strossmayer University of Osijek
The webinar was moderated by Doc. dr. sc. Sandra Kučina Softić, Assistant Director of SRCE.
The discussion particularly emphasized the importance of collaboration between libraries and teachers in the modern educational environment. It was highlighted that teachers today need not only technical support regarding infrastructure, digital tools and technologies, but also support in instructional design, digital pedagogy, multimedia, digital accessibility, and expert assistance from librarians. The synergy of all involved stakeholders contributes to creating a high-quality and stimulating learning experience for students.
Around 140 participants from the academic and library community attended the webinar and actively participated in the discussion and exchange of experiences.
