As part of the 33rd International Symposium Animal Science Days 2025, held from 23 to 26 September 2025 in Nitra, Slovakia, a full-day workshop titled “Practical Introduction to Next Generation Sequencing Data Analysis” was organised, led by Assoc. Prof. Vladimir Brajković, Ph.D., with support from Mario Shihabi, Ph.D., from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of General Animal Science. The workshop gathered 24 participants from nine institutions from various European countries.
During the workshop, participants were introduced to the theoretical foundations of next-generation sequencing (second-generation sequencing) and, through a detailed analytical workflow, acquired practical skills in working with data, understanding bioinformatics tools and effectively using advanced computing resources.
SRCE provided all participants with access to the Padobran advanced computing cluster, ensuring smooth delivery of the practical part of the workshop.
SRCE experts demonstrated the use of bioinformatics tools, offering detailed explanations of the commands, parameters and file formats involved. Participants also learned basic Linux commands and how to connect to and run jobs on the Padobran cluster via terminal.
Through its Advanced Computing service, SRCE supports researchers in addressing computationally intensive challenges across various scientific disciplines. More information is available on SRCE’s website.
