The possibility of connecting to the Internet using various technologies is today incorporated in most new PC's, PDA's and mobile phones. It has become customary to offer roaming services which includes accessing the network by using different devices and locations using a single electronic identity.
The Virtual data centers service (VDC) provides computer, storage, and network resources to academic and scientific institutions, catering to their needs in building virtual data centers and utilizing virtual servers based on current requirements.
SRCE run six geographically distributed data centers, three of which are located in Zagreb (HR-ZOO ZG1, HR-ZOO ZG2, Srce ZG3) and one each in Split, Osijek and Rijeka (HR-ZOO ST, HR-ZOO OS) and HR-ZOO RI).
In that period, the role that SRCE performed for a full 17 years (from 1992 to 2009) is certainly the most significant, and probably the most well-known to today's generation - the role of the network operating center of the CARNET network, whereby we can single out three periods/phases that (technologically ) marked the Heart of the NOC (Network Operations Center). These are: the initial phase of the Internet in Croatia from 1991 to 1995, when CARNET was launched as a project, the ATM phase of the CARNet network from 1995 to 2003, and the (Gigabit) Ethernet CARNet phase until 2009.
Croatian Internet eXchange (CIX) is a Croatian center for mutual exchange of Internet traffic (Internet eXchange Point - IXP) founded in 2000.
